The time is NOW. Fire, Intention & Gratitude.


So here's the deal. I am a planner. I love planning. This week was all figured out. I knew what was happening...

And then there was a massive bushfire right beside my house. The area was put on high alert for two days then the police recommended evacuating as the fire was within 200 meters of the house... After 24 hours I returned home, but was still on watch and act in case the fire came back. It's been blown away from here by the wind, but if the wind direction changes it could easily flare up again.

So this week has been HARD. Long days. Not a lot of sleep. Lots of anxiety and worry. A hell of a lot of unknowns.

Do I have it the worst? Nope!

Right now I'm safe. My home is safe. My loved ones are safe.

Does that mean I'm not allowed to feel anxiety, worry, and be on edge? Absolutely not!

There's that old saying of "someone's got is worse than you..." and it's so true! Someone has got it worse than you in almost any situation you come across in life.

But that doesn't negate the fact that you're having a hard time. That you're struggling and needing support. That you need a time out.

Now that I'm back home again, I'm feeling a bit more normal, but still on edge. Things could change in a moments notice.

The old me would have beaten myself up for this! Doesn't matter that the situation is beyond my control. It would have likely sounded something like... "Half a week gone! You've hardly gotten ANY work done! Fallen behind in SO MANY THINGS! You're a FAILURE!!"

Sound familiar??

Today I'm proud to say my tone has changed....

Giving myself grace to feel what I need to feel and process emotions. Being kind, compassionate, and understanding. Supporting my mental health in a way that feels good to me. Sometimes that's meditation and tea. Sometimes it's Netflix and sleeping. Both are perfectly valid. Both are self care!

Throughout this past week, the biggest emotion that's come up again and again is GRATITUDE!

Realizing this came as a surprise, but I soon recognized it shouldn't.

This past few years my mindset has dramatically shifted. From feeling sorry for myself, blaming others, seeing the negative in people and in situations, and staying in a slump to turning it all around!

So what's created this change??

Intentional work on myself EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not doing conscious work every day. Most days yes, but not daily.

So how is this transformation occurring?

Through creating so many amazing things including:

- An intentional self care practice

- A daily gratitude practice

- Recognizing my worth and investing in creating my happiness and growth

- A daily mindset practice including meditation, journaling, and intention setting

- Working with coaches who can help me with exactly what I'm struggling with! Whether that's personal development, health, or business, it's about recognizing your needs and finding someone who can help you.

- Reading personal development books

- Listening to uplifting podcasts

- Inviting people into my life who lift me up and help me grow

With all of these in place, the shift happens daily without even thinking about it.

These things I'm talking about, some of them are difficult. Some are easy. But the one thing that they all have in common is intention.

Deciding.

It's time.

Who do you want to be?

How do you want to show up in your life?

Then going out in the world and CREATING IT!

The life of your dreams starts with YOU.

If you're not showing up for yourself, if you're not working for a better purpose, for a better mindset, or actively creating what you want, nobody else will do it for you.

So often people tell me "I wish I loved my body the way you love yours!" And my response is always a variation of this... "You CAN! You just have to decide you want it. Once you've made the decision you want it, then doing it becomes a whole lot easier."

The question then becomes:

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

What kind of life do you want to create?

What daily experience do you want to have?

How do you want to feel about your body?

Do you want to play the victim? Blame others? Always think that you can't have it all, that you can't reach your goals, that you're not worthy of loving yourself? Of loving your life?

Or do you want to feel your heart BURSTING with gratitude? To wake up each day feeling light, feeling free, and knowing that you love yourself. Intentionally setting yourself up for success, creating the experience you want, and honouring your needs. Caring for your physical, mental & emotional health in a way that feels truly incredible?

Seriously, this is YOUR CHOICE!

Nobody can do this but you.

What you have to decide is, when is it enough?

When have you reached your lowest point? Is that after being in a situation you hate for 20 years? 30 years? Is it after hating your body for as long as you can remember? After crying yourself to sleep for practically a decade? Is it when you become a parent and decide you want something better for your kids?

WHEN will it be ENOUGH??

My answer?

Now. Right freaking now.

Your life can turn around TODAY. You just have to decide that you want it. You have to make the decision that you're worthy of love, of happiness, of reaching your dreams. You have to decide you want a different experience every day.

You don't have to know HOW. That can be sorted later.
